HEIC to PNG

HEIC (Apple's High Efficiency Image Format) isn't decodable by any major browser's built-in image handling — converting it client-side would require bundling a dedicated, fairly heavy decoding library, which this tool doesn't include. Uploading a HEIC file here shows a clear explanation rather than silently failing.

On Mac: open the photo in Preview and use File > Export, choosing PNG. On iPhone: there's no direct HEIC-to-PNG export option, but you can export as JPEG then convert that JPEG to PNG using our [JPG to PNG](/tool/jpg-to-png) tool. On Windows: a tool like IrfanView (with the HEIC plugin) can open and export HEIC files as PNG.

It's a real possibility if a lightweight, reliable client-side HEIC decoder becomes practical to bundle — for now, we'd rather be upfront about the limitation than pretend to convert a file we can't actually read.
