Sales Growth % = (Current Period Sales − Prior Period Sales) ÷ Prior Period Sales × 100.
Yes — the formula works the same regardless of the time period; just make sure both figures cover the same length of time (e.g. both months, or both quarters).
The formula can't divide by zero — you'd need a different way to describe growth from a zero base (e.g. simply reporting the absolute new sales figure).
No — comparing consecutive periods with strong seasonality (e.g. December vs November for a retailer) can be misleading; year-over-year comparison of the same period is often more meaningful for seasonal businesses.
