Your average price is what determines your actual break-even point and profit/loss on a position, especially when you've bought the same stock at different prices over multiple purchases — the average is rarely the same as a simple midpoint of the two prices.

It weights each purchase price by the number of units bought at that price: (price1 × qty1 + price2 × qty2) divided by the total quantity — a larger lot at one price pulls the average closer to that price.

This calculator handles two buy lots at a time. For more purchases, you can average your existing combined position with each additional purchase in turn, treating your prior average as one of the two inputs.
